When we moved into the theater, we found bright and colorful sets. It was nearly a full house and so enjoyable to see all the children dressed in their "Sunday best" beginning what will hopefully be a lifelong appreciation of live theater.
Elf is the Story of a boy whose mother died when he was a baby. Because his father did not know of his existence, he ended up in the orphanage. One Christmas night Buddy crawled into Santa's sack and ended up at the North Pole, where the elves decided to raise his as their own. Eventually Buddy learned that he was a human and that his father was alive, but on the "naughty list". The story is about Buddy's adventure to meet his family and bring the spirit of Christmas to New York City.
Matt Kopec, starring as Buddy the Elf, did a phenomenal job portraying the innocent child-like human elf. His energy and spirit filled the entire theater. You would have to be a real Grinch to not fall in love with Buddy.
Another standout in the show was Buddy's brother Michael, played by Connor Barth. Such a strong voice coming out of the little guy, he really kept up with the adults in the show.
As you can tell by the title of my post, my favorite number was "Sparklejollytwinklejingly" It was a big splashy colorful fun production number that filled the theater with Christmas Spirit.
So, if you are looking to catch some Christmas Spirit, take your family and friends to see the Ordway production of Elf. You can get tickets at http://bit.ly/QWBcY8 then you can join me in saying "I believe in Santa Claus!
