Like I said in my last post, I had never been to a Zydeco concert before and wasn't too sure what to expect. The concert drew a wid audience of people under 5 to over 90 years old and they were all dancing and having a great time!
From the moment Willie Walker and Butanes opened with a great R & B series, people started dancing. At first it was just a few couples on the dancefloor, but slowly more people started to join and you could feel the energy in the room start to rise!
When CJ Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band took the stage, the crowd really got going and people were dancing EVERYWHERE! It was such fun to watch some of the couples swing dancing in the aisles and doorways of the balconies!
CJ brought everyone to their feet when he and his rub board player left the stage and played their music as they snaked through the dancefloor and the aisle of the theater. I can't say that I was a big accordiam music fan, but CJ makes the accordian pretty cool!
While I only recognized a couple of the songs, I really enjoyed the music and we did a little dancin in our seats!
All in all it was a fun evening of trying something completely out of our normal routine, it kind of made me think that a trip to New Orleans might be in our future. If you have a chance to see CJ Henier and the Red Hot Louisanna Band next time there in town, I would jump at the chance. Its a music from the fabric of America that we dont get treated to up her in Minnesota very often and a very enjoyable night.
